Warning Signs You Have an Acne-Prone Skin

We all wish to have elegant and smooth skin. Unfortunately, some skin conditions can damage your skin, leaving you desperate to regain your beautiful look. Acne is one of the most common skin conditions many people suffer in the U.S.

This is an inflammatory disease that affects the sebaceous gland. Fortunately, acne Austin treatments are available for managing the condition. But how do you know if you are prone to this condition? Read on for warning signs you might have acne-prone skin.

Excess Oil Production

Your skin requires a healthy oil balance. And while sebum is essential for keeping your skin healthy, excess sebum can cause oily skin and clogged pores. Oily skin results from sebaceous glands making excess oil which causes cramming.

Excessively oily skin is often characterized by enlarged pores, a thicker appearance to the skin, and excessive shine throughout the day. If your skin is often very oily, then you might be prone to getting acne.

Blackheads

Blackheads are one of the common signs of acne. They develop when a clog develops at the opening of a pore. This might be from oils or dead skin cells that collect in the opening to the skin follicle, and the air exposure causes it to appear black.

Blackheads are often confused with sebaceous filaments. These are completely normal oil. Sebaceous filaments don’t belong to the blackhead family and should be left alone.

Redness

General skin redness from breakouts can occur due to hormonal variations. It can also result from trauma/stress to the hair follicle that activates an inflammatory response. The body directs white and red blood cells to fight the intruders on your epidermis.

This results in a sore pimple that might be encircled by redness. The redness is often subtle to the touch. The redness is often accompanied by insufficient hydration in the skin.

Larger Or Clogged Pores

While it’s annoying to know the size of your pores is often determined by genetics. Other than genes, other common causes of larger pores include decreased skin elasticity, increased sebum secretion, sun damage, vitamin A deficiency, and hormonal changes. Large pores are, however, prone to acne.

If the pores on your skin often get clogged from time to time, this is an indication of acne-prone skin. Debris, dust, or dirt can get in the pores and mess them up. Clogged pores often give a dull appearance to the skin.

Recurring Active Acne

Experiencing a single breakout here and there doesn’t mean you have acne-susceptible skin. However, always-present, stubborn breakouts can be known as active acne and can be very frustrating. The active stage is when visible bumps present signs of acne.

Acne has two main subtypes; noninflammatory and inflammatory. These types of acne commonly occur on the cheeks, chin, forehead, and back but might also occur in the chest, ears, or virtually any place you have a pore. If you notice recurring acne, that’s a clear sign of acne-prone skin.

In conclusion, these are the common signs of acne-pore skin. True acne-prone skin has sebaceous glands producing too much oil, lacks adequate hydration, and the skin cells turn over too quickly, causing a buildup of dead skin on the surface.

If, after reading this, you think you might be acne-prone, don’t worry! You can effectively manage your acne with the proper treatment plan. Acne-prone skin, though annoying, can be managed. If you are acne-prone, with the right guidance, home care, and treatment by a dermatologist, you can very well manage it!
